P1

Developed by the top kart drivers of the European and World Championships.
The P1 Ribtec can cope with the most demanding rubber covered tracks which place exceptional forces on the ribs and body.

The 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 World Champions all used Ribtec rib protection to win, The P1 is now updated for 2006 with the side and ab panels now made from KEVLAR® for even greater protection. These genuine composite side and front panels enable a small amount of flexibility whilst giving localised rigidity to spread cornering loads evenly.

The P1 weighs from only 0·5 kg and has ultra-thin side sections so as not to disrupt the seat fit. It has a tough faux suede exterior, absorbent towelling interior and newly developed foam to deaden impacts and improve comfort. It has a thin back plate with soft foam for better seat feel, and removable chest protection as standard.

Available in six sizes to fit 6 year old children and above. To account for different chest angles it is adjustable at both the front and rear and has shoulder straps for height adjustment.

FITTING

The P1 Ribtec has adjustments front and back, to perfectly match the many different chest shapes. Initial fitting requires the rear Velcro to be positioned first. Fix the rear Velcro connection as shown in the pictures below. Then test the belt and re adjust until the front connector is in the correct position with the logo central to your chest. It is important for the belt to be a tight fit around your chest. The rear spine cover should be central.

Once fitted correctly it is not necessary to adjust the rear Velcro again. Loop the shoulder straps through the slots at the front and adjust until comfortable. If the chest protector is not required, the upper part can be easily removed with a pair of scissors. (Providing local regulations allow any modification.)

For maximum protection against sweat and abrasion wear the P1 over a tee shirt and under you race suit.

Seat bolts must be embedded in (or covered by) a minimum of 5 mm of foam, otherwise the hard surface of the P1 Ribtec and the head of the bolt may wear through your race suit.

RIBTEC RIB PROTECTOR

Developed by the KF1 and KF2 drivers
of the European and World Championships

Liuzzi wearing Tillett Ribtec

Tested on the most demanding rubber covered tracks that place exceptional forces on the ribs and body.

"When using the Ribtec to protect all of our corporate customers, we have been amazed to find that this year, rib problems have been reduced by an astonishing 98%." (Bill Sisley, owner of Buckmore Park Kart Circuit)

THE  LADIES  RIBTEC

The Ladies Ribtec is very different to the standard Ribtec.

The shape has been modified to allow for the bust and, because kart seats are always made for men, extra thickness has been added to the sides to compensate for the more petite female frame.

THE  RIBTEC  HARNESS

If a driver's chest is angular or V shaped, it is possible to experience the belt dropping out of position, the Ribtec Harness is the simple and effective answer to any movement problems.

JUNIOR CHEST PROTECTOR

Made for juniors, the Ribtec chest protector fits on a standard Ribtec and provides extra protection against damage by the steering wheel.

RIBTEC USER INFORMATION

The Ribtec must be worn high up under the arms to give maximum protection.

When seated, the top of the belt has to show above the top edge of the seat to be at its most effective.

When fitting make sure that there is a gap at the front of about 10 to 15cm. (See diagram across.) If the belt is too big and no gap exists the level of protection afforded will be reduced. For maximum comfort, wear over a tee-shirt but undeneath a racesuit. Test the belt on the track before any modification takes place, as the belt needs the full width to remain in position. If movement still occurs, use the Ribtec Harness to keep it in position
.
Between each race keep the belt flat or wrapped around a crash helmet. Curling the belt up in a tight roll, or creasing it in half could leave it permanently damaged.

The Velcro strap should be cut down to size when the wearer is happy with the required length.Chest measurements should be taken with a measuring tape pulled tight at the height of the red line on the diagram opposite.

Women should measure directly under the bust line.
