The 2nd round of the Porsche National Championship 2008 which was scheduled for the 4th of May took place at Daytona Raceway on Sunday afternoon.

On Sunday morning at Daytona Raceway there was a Rok Cup meeting which finished around 12:30 leaving the track to the National Championship. First there was the free practice of the different categories. In KF3, Vladimiros Tziortzis was very fast; writing amazing lap times, where in the other hand in KF2 Constantinos Christodoulides was facing problems with the performance of his engine.
Eftychios Ellinas, one of our drivers decided to withdraw himself from the team. We, Conerel Racing, respect his decision and wish him all the best in the future.
KF3 Class

When the time for the Qualifying Heat came, the weather was excellent and the track had enough grip for good lap times. Vladimiros managed to write the fastest lap, getting the pole position with 48,070, leaving his competitors behind.

On the A Final, Vladimiros made an excellent start and until the 1st lap elapsed he was far ahead from the rest of the competitors getting the finish flag 19,712 seconds before the 2nd driver. The same scenario was repeated in the B Final where Vladimiros once again showed his superiority in his class getting at the top of the championship with 3 points ahead of the 2nd driver.

KF2 Class
Constantinos was facing problems from the beginning, complaining that he had no power at the exit of the corners. His setup was tested over the last few days and he was very fast compared to his competitors during practice. Unfortunately, with the grip of the track, the ratio we tested was totally wrong and in the Qualifying Heat Constantinos was 0.56 behind the 1st driver.
During the A Final we tried a different ratio which was worse and Constantinos was left behind without having the power to do anything. During the A Final, Lykourgos was very fast from the beginning, gaining the race, where Nicolas managed to get the 2nd position. Eftychios finished 3rd, but after a big mistake on the lap, getting back to the Parc Ferme he took a short cut and was penalized with 1 minute.
We decided to change completely Constantinos’ ratio for the B Final. That was a very good decision and Constantinos started performing again. The luck was not on his side through, in this race, as he lost his steering wheel when the screw of the boss broke. Still, we are happy with the performance of the engine and the kart as Constantinos being on the back positions with traffic, managed to write the second best lap 46,914 with only 0,03 seconds from the 1st driver Nicolas. Nicolas managed to get the 1st position from Lycourgos in the 16th lap where Eftychios finished 3rd.

We look forward to the next Race which will be in the afternoon of the 25th of May. It will be again an afternoon event since the Cyprus Rok Cup will have its 3rd Meeting in the morning of the same day.
